Use of membrane technologies has grown substantially in recent years for reasons including: more stringent environmental regulations; increased desire to conserve water through reuse, and improvements in the design and operation of membranes and associated processes. The primary wastewater membrane applications are: membrane bioreactors, low-pressure (microfiltration/ultrafiltration) for effluent filtration, and nanofiltration/reverse osmosis for advanced treatment.
