WEFTEC Community Service Project

Plans are being made for WEFTEC 2013 in Chicago, IL. This year's project, "Reading, Writing, and Rain Gardens", will consist of replacing concrete with green infrastructure on the playground at Haines Elementary in Chicago's Chinatown neighborhood.  The trees and rain garden will help relieve runoff from urban flooding and reduce heat island effect in a critical public space for students.  Locating the project at a school helps us increase the awareness of the value of water with imp[ressionable young minds.  We hope to inspire studetns to the cause of clean water, underscore the importance of the water profession, and demonstrate to the community how to get started on clean water initiatives.  Contact Tim Moran  or WEF Staff Dianne Crilley if interested in being apart of the planning committee.

Regional Liaison Program

WEF Students and Young Professionals Committee (SYPC) formed a Regional Liaison program to assist WEF Member Associations (MAs) with the formation of Student Chapters and Young Professionals Committees.  Ten regions were delineated within North America to have at least one WEF SYPC member represented in each region.  Liaisons will inform student chapters and MAs in their region of WEF resources along with any opportunities and future developments.
