An agreement has been inked between the government of Bulgaria and the World Bank to provide analytical and advisory services to support the execution of the country's Water Supply and Sanitation Strategy 2014-2023.
The government approved the Water Supply and Sanitation Strategy 2014-2023 on 2nd April.
The agreement was inked by Minister of Regional Development Desislava Terzieva and Markus Repnik , World Bank Country Manager for Bulgaria , Czech Republic , and Slovakia
The agreement will see the World Bank bolstering the capacity of the State Energy and Water Regulatory Commission . While avoiding excessive costs, it will also back state compliance with EU urban wastewater rules.
Under the Strategy, EU finances will fund 30 to 40 percent of the total capital expenditure needs. The industry should find the rest to guarantee compliance and sustainability of water supply and sanitation services.
