Title: Government Affairs Specialist

Water Environment Federation (WEF) has recently added this new position to the Government Affairs department.  The Specialist will research and track legislative and regulatory issues; provide content updates for the website and assist with any relevant publications; support committees; and work closely with members regarding government affairs activities or projects.

Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in political science, environmental science, or a related field, at least 3 years of similar experience, skills using social media and Microsoft office suite, and excellent communications and customer service abilities.

Stormwater Program Director
Company: Water Environment Federation
Job Location: Alexandria, Va.

Summary: The Water Environment Federation (WEF) is seeking a director to manage the organization’s Stormwater initiatives.  This includes coordination with internal WEF groups (volunteer groups) on initiatives, products, and services and coordination with external partners to include representing WEF at conferences, member associations, with government entities, and at other events.  The director also serves as a subject matter expert for WEF on stormwater.

Additional areas of responsibility include providing internal coordination for stormwater education and training, publications, conferences (WEFTEC Stormwater Congress), and public policy.  The director also coordinates activities with WEF Government Affairs staff and represents WEF to federal and other officials and agencies.

Budgeting, staff management, business development, and administrative skills are necessary to manage and oversee the program.  Strong customer service orientation, public speaking, and problem solving skills are necessary to be a successful representative of WEF.

In addition, a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required, while an advanced degree is preferred.  Extensive knowledge of the stormwater sector and related issues is needed and environmental policy knowledge is helpful.

Title: Senior Director of Membership

Summary: The Water Environment Federation is strategically focused on membership development and providing extraordinary value to our members.  Consequently, this position has been added to enhance and expand the current activities promoting membership.  The Senior Director will provide oversight of membership functions including the creation of detailed business plans, budgets and reports that are aimed at meeting organization and department goals.  Some specific responsibilities include oversight of the service delivered to members and potential members; development and implementation (in collaboration with colleagues) of recruitment and retention strategies; effective analysis of trends and reports; oversight and development of member benefits; and evaluation of the effectiveness of strategies such as fees, benefits, and revenue development.    

Qualified candidates will have over 8 years of experience in a similar position; a bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) and a CAE designation.  Solid database knowledge, analytics, communication, and supervisory skills are required.
