Title: Technical Project Manager, Water Science & Engineering Center
Company: Water Environment Federation
Job Location: Alexandria, Va. 

Leads the development of initiatives, products, and services in water infrastructure and water quality protection. 

Primary responsibilities include: 

  • Works with and leads relevant volunteer groups to develop initiatives and services to support WEF’s Critical Objectives, particularly in driving innovation in the water sector and enriching the expertise of global water professionals on interrelated topics including collection systems, water resource recovery facility operations, or asset management. 
  • Participates in the growth of external funding by developing external relationships, identifying partnering and funding opportunities, developing proposals, and managing related projects. 
  • Coordinates volunteer activity with WEF’s Education & Training delivery mechanisms, Communications group, Publications group, Marketing, Social Media, and other groups as appropriate. 
  • Work experience at or with a water/wastewater utility and familiarity with sustainability and innovation concepts desired.  
  • B.S. in Environmental or Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or related degree area
  • 3 to 5 years environmental engineering/science experience focused in design, operation, and/or management of water infrastructure systems; 
  • High degree of initiative and interest in business and service development;
  • Ability to lead staff and staff/volunteer teams;
  • Able to manage multiple projects and deadlines with minimum direction and to lead projects from initial concept to delivery;
  • Grasp of engineering, scientific, and mathematical principles underlying technology of municipal water systems;
  • Understanding of current technical, policy, and management issues facing municipal and consulting professionals;
  • Professional Engineer or other relevant designation desirable;
  • Excellent communication skills & ability to serve as WEF representative;
  • Detail oriented and accurate with excellent project management skills.

 Title: Manager, Advertising
Company: Water Environment Federation
Job Location: Alexandria, Va. 

Summary:  Establishes processes and procedures related to advertising and manages advertising production and sales.  Controls advertising functions for WEFTEC (annual conference and exposition); establishes billing, collection and credit procedures for advertising. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Manages production of advertisements in print and electronic media.  Collaborates with Creative Services to determine the layout of the print magazine WE&T, and WEFTEC related publications. Manages electronic advertising, lead generation program, banner ads, updates advertising pages on website and responsible for advertising marketing materials. Provides support to ad sales team. 
  • Establishes and administers financial procedures for advertising and collaborates with Financial Management on invoicing and billing.   Enters all advertising orders, process invoices, prepares billing and prepares commission payments.
  • Recommends advertising procedures and collaborates with Director on changes.


Prefer a bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Advertising or a related area and 3+ years project management experience in a marketing or advertising environment. Need Experience with digital ad copy production on MAC and PC platforms, strong customer service skills, and excellent communication skills.  Must be able to effectively meet deadlines.
