This year we were very pleased to host one pre-conference workshop.
Innovations in Resource Recovery and Permit Compliance – Thinking Outside the Box to Deliver Superior Environmental Results with the Business in Mind.
Wednesday, January 12, 2011 | 8:30am – 12:00pm
Escalating water quality mandates, soaring capital/operating costs, and the sustainability surge have forced water resource managers and regulators toward non-traditional wastewater and stormwater management approaches. Doing more with less while achieving superior environmental results, is becoming an industry goal, however achieving this goal will require innovative solutions to age old problems. This interactive workshop, coordinated by a public wastewater and stormwater utility group from Oregon, will highlight challenges and successes the utility has faced, and will allow participants to explore new options for nutrient recovery and restoring impaired water bodies. Learn about the history of their approach, the challenges involved, and the lessons learned along the way. The presenters will share information in half hour segments, and will then open up the floor for discussion. Please bring information from your own utility to share. What are some of the challenges you are facing? How can we work together over the course of the morning to develop good strategies to meet those challenges?
