Title: Exhibitions Operations Manager – Specialty Conferences 
Company: Water Environment Federation
Job Location: Alexandria, Va. 

Summary: The individual in this position will develop and implement operational and support plans for specialty conferences and the WEFTEC (annual conference) onsite sales. 


Responsibilities include:      

  • Developing operational plans for the staging of specialty conference exhibits; and implementing and communicating plans to exhibitors, sponsors, and contractors. 
  • Developing and implementing exhibitor support program for specialty conferences. 
  • Managing specialty conference exhibitors and sponsor data files 
  • Developing and implementing operational plan for the WEFTEC onsite sales. 
  • Assisting with budget development and completing monthly projections for specialty conferences exhibitions expenses. 
  • Developing and implementing definitions, pricing structures, and operation plan for specialty conferences sponsorship and banner programs.     

 

Requires:     

  • 3+ years of exhibit operations experience 
  • Computer literacy with MS Office Suite, Expocad, and association management software 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills 
  • Effective attention to detail and deadlines 
  • Ability to manage and handle multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Ability and willingness to travel

Title: Acquisitions/Development Editor
Company: Water Environment Federation
Job Location: Alexandria, Va.  
 

Summary: WEF is seeking an acquisitions/development editor to provide hands-on management of book projects from conception through development.
 

Responsibilities include:              

  • Cultivating/maintaining a network of industry experts, authors and reviewers to support publishing   
  • Soliciting and managing book proposals and approval activities  
  • Negotiating/enforcing contracts and developing/managing schedules and budgets for book projects  
  • Working with authors and reviewers to manage/shape/guide content aspects  
  • Constructing final documents and collaborating with creative/marketing on production and distribution  

 

    Requirements: 

    We are seeking candidates with a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 5 years publishing experience that includes successful book acquisition experience. Job demands exceptional editorial skills; ability to manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment; a strong customer service orientation; and excellent verbal/written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Must have strong initiative, be able to work independently, anticipate and troubleshoot problems, and prioritize effectively. Computer literacy with proficiency in Word and websites is required.
