The District of
Columbia Water and Sewer Authority (DC Water; Washington) has hired Veolia
Water (Paris), a provider of water and wastewater services and technology,
to conduct a comprehensive and independent review of its wholesale water
provider, the Washington Aqueduct, a federally owned and operated public
water supply agency that delivers an average of 142 mgd of drinking water to DC
Water and Arlington County and Falls Church in Virginia. Veolia is conducting a
comprehensive evaluation to provide recommendations that the Washington
Aqueduct can implement to increase efficiencies, reduce costs, streamline
operations, and ensure continued reliable delivery of water services.
CDM Smith Inc.(Cambridge, Mass.) has hired Michael A. Schober as a client
service manager in its Lancaster, Pa., office. Schober will be responsible for
project execution, sales and marketing, mentoring, staff development, and
overall quality and client satisfaction. He has 28 years of experience in
municipal water and sewer projects. AEA Investors LP(New York), a
private investment vehicle for a select group of industrial family offices,
signed an agreement to acquire the municipal, industrial, and services water
and wastewater treatment operations and assets of Siemens Water Technologies
LLC (Alpharetta, Ga.), a global provider of equipment and services, for 640
million euros (US$876 million). The transaction is subject to regulatory
approval. The company focuses on control buyouts in four industry sectors:
value-added industrial products, specialty chemicals, consumer products/retail,
and services. The company will continue to focus on municipal and industrial
water and wastewater treatment equipment and services.
International Inc. (Brockway, Pa.), a water management firm that provides
innovative, integrated water management programs for boiler, cooling tower,
process, and wastewater systems to commercial, government, and industrial
customers, promoted Joseph Keister to district manager, Erie District.
Keister will be responsible for obtaining new accounts as well as providing
service to existing customers.
