On August 1, Andrew Wheeler, EPA’s Acting Administrator appeared before the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee to take questions.  By all accounts, while some Members may not have liked his answers, nearly all appreciated his transparency and low-key demeanor.

Wheeler answered questions about toxic chemicals and renewable fuels from Democrats and Republicans alike including questions on releasing a study on the health impacts of formaldehyde and whether the EPA was too lenient or too harsh on fuel refineries that don’t want to blend ethanol or other biofuels into their petroleum-based products – a hot topic with many Members from the Midwest.
